Join us for an exclusive in-person workshop at ApplyToEducation's head office. In the morning, Nathan Laurie will share valuable tips for creating a successful campus recruitment strategy. You will have the opportunity to evaluate your current efforts in recruiting students on campus and identify areas for improvement, along with practical strategies you can implement right away.

In the afternoon, university career center staff will present strategies for reaching students on campus, including insights into networking opportunities on campus. Following this, hear from a panel of education students, and learn more about the decision-making factors when it comes to finding a job.

9:15 am – 11:00 am — Part One: Campus Recruitment 101 Overview

Nathan Laurie, Co-founder of ApplyToEducation, will provide a step-by-step guide to building a successful campus recruitment strategy. This session is a must-attend for anyone recruiting new graduates and early-career teachers. We will discuss:  

  • Effective strategies for connecting and building relationships with students, recent graduates, career centres, and faculty staff.
  • How to create compelling job postings that attract top talent
  • Approaches to enhance employer branding and increase visibility on campus.

11:10 am – 12:10 pm — Part Two: Campus Recruitment 101 Building Your Campus Recruitment Plan

In this session, you will create a first draft campus recruitment plan tailored specifically for your organization. We will utilize the key insights gained from the previous session and adapt them to suit your school board.

This interactive discussion will focus on:

  • Identifying recruitment challenges and brainstorming solutions
  • Developing a structured approach to engaging new talent
  • Sharing successful strategies and best practices with other attendees

1:15 pm – 2:15 pm - University Career Centre Panel

In this session, you will hear from university career centers about how they are helping school boards connect with and promote their boards to students enrolled in a Bachelor or Master of Education program.

2:15 pm – 3:15 pm -  Education Student Panel

This is your chance to better understand the evolving preferences of students enrolled in an education program and the factors that go into their decision making process when looking for a job. The panel will also share answers to the following questions:

  • Why do students choose one school board over another?
  • What would it take to get a new graduated teacher to consider a school board that wasn’t on their radar?
  • Are new teachers willing to relocate and why?

These questions and more will be asked to the student panel. You will also have an opportunity to ask your questions!
